Praising the Union Government's efforts towards real estate reforms, reactors apex body Chairman Lalit Jain expressed the hope that the new Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Ms. Girija Vyas will continue with the unfinished task of his predecessor Mr Ajay Maken. "Mr Maken appreciated the issues faced by the housing sector's and agreed to our suggestion to accord the status of infrastructure to real estate to facilitate speedy progress to realise the government's mission – Housing For All," Mr Jain, who is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Mumbai-Pune realtor Kumar Urban development Limited, said. "We are confident that the new minister Ms Vyas will continue to pursue the various issues like affordable housing with the concerned departments," he said welcoming her appointment as the HUPA Minister in the Union Cabinet. CREDAI has taken up the real estate reforms as a mission and suggested to the governments to accord the status of infrastructure to the sector, and introduce four-fold reforms – land, administrative, banking and labour – so that India emerges as a housing surplus nation. CREDAI shared the general concern over rising cost of housing, Mr Jain said and pointed the reforms should ensure that the prices are under check. "More importantly a single window system for all clearances will facilitate quick approvals and speedy execution of projects," he said requested the Centre to issue guidelines to all States to this effect. CREDAI will shortly seek appointment with Ms Vyas to take up the issues on behalf of the home buyers.
